The clean beauty trend has surged in popularity among beauty consumers, who are more aware of the ingredients used on their skin.  Consumers are also concerned about the environmental impact of these clean beauty products.

What is Clean Beauty?

Clean beauty products are made with natural and organic ingredients free of toxic chemicals such as parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. These products claim to be gentler on the skin and more eco-friendly than traditional cosmetics.

Clean Beauty Ingredients

The clean beauty movement emphasizes natural and organic ingredients, such as plant-based extracts, essential oils, and emollients like shea butter and coconut oil. These ingredients are often sustainably sourced and ethically produced.

Clean Beauty Packaging

Clean beauty brands are making moves to reduce negative environmental impact, using recyclable packaging materials such as glass, aluminum, and paper-based materials. Taking it a step further, some brands offer refillable products to help reduce waste and save consumers money. Many have also adopted a minimalist aesthetic in their packaging, which is reflective of their commitment to sustainability and natural ingredients. These steps have positioned clean beauty as an eco-conscious approach to self-care.

Popularity of Clean Beauty

The clean beauty trend has surged in popularity over recent years, driven by increased awareness of the potential chemical risks to both personal health and the environment. Consumers are now more conscious of what they put on their skin and the potential effects. There’s also been a rise in interest in sustainable and ethical production practices within beauty brands, with producers placing emphasis on ingredient sourcing, eco-friendly packaging, etc.

Clean beauty products are becoming more popular due to the demand for brands that align with consumers’ values, the influence of social media influencers and beauty bloggers, and the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, more people have chosen to focus on self-care, leading to a surge in interest in natural and organic products. The best clean beauty products are often promoted by these influencers and bloggers, creating a buzz around the trend.

Clean Beauty Brands

New clean beauty brands are popping up every day. Popular ones include True Botanicals, Beautycounter, Tata Harper, Codex, ILIA, and Sephora. True Botanicals provides skincare products made with natural and organic ingredients while being cruelty-free and vegan. Beautycounter has a range of skincare and makeup items made with safe and sustainable components plus transparency and advocacy for high standards. Tata Harper offers natural and organic skincare products that are cruelty-free with sustainable packaging. Codex provides natural and effective ingredients in its skincare line without any harmful chemicals in visible packaging. ILIA equips customers with makeup offered through safe and vegan ingredients plus recyclable packaging. Additionally, Sephora’s clean beauty products are free from potentially harmful ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
